For example, satellite navigation requires a street name or postal code so that the system can provide direction. It's the same as a web browser that requires a domain name to direct you or visitors to the website. Now, many people use domains to visit certain sites or websites. Technological development forces domains to adjust accordingly. This is evident from the increasing number of domain names that can be found on the internet.

  Domain name registration is managed by an organization called ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). ICANN determines available domain name extensions and keeps the database focused on where the domain name leads. Domain names consist of two main elements. For example, the domain name Facebook.com contains the name of the website (Google) and the extension of the domain name (.com). When a company (or private person) buys a domain name, they can create or determine a server so that the domain name can be directed.

Every website you open consists of two main elements: domain name and web server.

1. Domain names refer to a list of names typed by site visitors in the search column so that your site can be open and accessible. The domain name directs the web browser to a server that stores various resources. Without a domain name, people will type in the server's IP address to access your site. Of course this is very troublesome.

2. A web server is a physical machine for storing files and databases that compose your website and display it to site visitors when they access and open your website from a computer.

  Domain is a unique name given to identify the address (IP address) of a computer server such as a web server or e-mail server on the internet. With the existence of a domain, the name of the computer server on the internet or computer network can be identified. The domain consists of numbers, symbols or letters that are used to be the name of the URL of a website. In this case, the website owner can make the website address as desired. Domains make it easy for internet users to access the server and make it easier to remember the server visited compared to having to remember a series of IP Address numbers.

Domain has several levels, namely:

1. Top Level Domain is the last segment of the domain name
.com (dotcommercial)
.net (dotnetwork)
.org (dotorganization)
.edu (doteducation)
.gov (dotgoverment)
.mil (dotmilitary)
.info (dotinfo)
etc
There are two types of Top Level Domains, namely the Global Top Level Domain (gTLD) and Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLD). gTLD is like the one in the list above and ccTLD is a TLD that is intended for each country, such as Indonesia with ID codes (co.id, net.id, or.id, web.id etc.) or Malaysia with MY code (com .my, net.my, etc.).

2. Second Level Domain (SLD) is the domain name that you registered. For example the domain name you registered is domainku.com, then my domain is SLD and the .com is TLD.

3. Third Level Domain is the name after Second Level Domain. For example, the domain name you have is domainku.com, then you can add another name before my domain, namely mail.domainku.com or estrex.domainku.com.

The third level domain selling services are enom with: .us.com, .br.com, .cn.com, and so on. Or free like co.cc, cz.cc etc.

How do you work a domain?

  Domain names like shortcuts that will direct us to a server that connects your website. Without a domain name, people will enter an IP address to access and open your website. It's just that, IP addresses are very long and difficult to remember or ineffective if you want to be advertised.

  For example, Hostinger.co.id is a domain name. Let's just say our IP address is 100.90.80.70. The IP address points to the server but if the site visitor wants to use it. the address cannot be used to resolve the website. If the IP address tries to resolve the website, then the remote server must use port 80 with the default page (for example, index.html) stored in the web application directory.

In essence, the function of the domain itself is to facilitate internet users when they want to browse websites on the internet. Because the domain can make it easier for consumers or potential buyers to find an online shop that is managed on the internet.
